Welcome to the website for the parish of Saint Anthony of Padua, Melton South, Victoria, Australia.

The area of Melton has grown considerably since its inception in 1862. In the 1970s and 80s, it experienced its first population boom. To this end, in 1983, the Archdiocese of Melbourne approved a new parish in Melton South: Saint Anthony of Padua, and appointed Fr. Peter James as the first Parish Priest. The parish centre, then a multi-functional building, was open by Archbishop Most Reverend Frank Little DD KBE in 1985.

Initially, the Presentation Sisters assisted in the setup of the parish. They were followed in 1998 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph, who have a convent in the parish and are still present today.

With the completion of the Padua Hall, and as part of the Jubilee year of 2008, the Dedication of the Church and Altar took place on the Feast Day of Saint Anthony; 13 June. The parish now had a place solely dedicated to worship.

The parish is a vibrant community with many volunteers who enhance the spiritual, social and financial well-being of the church and its members. Since September 2006, these activities have been documented in the parish’s quarterly publication: the ‘Padua News’.

The current Parish Priest is Father Alex Clemente
